Abrahamic religions made some of us believe we are born sinful and separated from our Creator. They told us our bodies deceive and our instincts should be resisted lest we burn. They made us bend the knee to messiahs, prophets and a violent Old Testament god in order to be saved from our invented sin. And the greatest crime of all? They told us Our Holy Mother Sophia, and Her emissary the Kundalini Serpent, our only hope of inner liberation and expansion…was the Devil. This misunderstanding of the Snake and the Feminine aspect of God in Abrahamic religions is the very thing that keeps us afraid of our Shadow Self and chained to our ego’s toxic patterns.
The Abrahamic texts may have demonised Her but the serpent, snake or dragon, are long symbols of the primal feminine Mother Goddess, the energy that animates all of life. Codified across countless ancient cultures, including the original Gnostic Christians, as the spiral of life force energy sitting at the base of the spine. While we exist in an unconscious ‘conditioned reality’ with a materialistic perspective, this powerful energy sits latent within us. However, as we begin to listen to Her promptings in our hearts this powerful energy begins to heal and release us from unhelpful toxic patterns, moving up the spine and expanding into the lotus of the crown.
Like the Serpent who continually sheds its old skin, the Ancients saw this as a symbol for Her because She helps us to continually shed old skin on our journey to increased wholeness and Christ Sophia Consciousness.
She is the one who whispers truths that are uncomfortable see. The one who challenges us to take responsibility for our lives. The one who urges us to deeper liberation. The one who brings us face-to-face with our own darkness in order to evolve. The one who doesn’t by-pass spiritual growth to some invented saviour but challenges us to save ourselves by healing our dysfunctional patterns and becoming whole. The Serpent’s path is learning to bravely face our dark suppressed parts, and to experience first hand how this expands us into greater levels of authenticity, peace and enjoyment.
So why do the Abrahamic Scriptures call Her the Devil? The very loving Mother Goddess who is the source of our emancipation?
Well, if someone wanted to keep you in a prison…They’d have to throw away the key.
She is the key, and She is in you, your body and your own Gnosis.
