in my midnight garden
i let the devil in
for sacred are her wiles
and forgiven is her sin
within my tomb of rose blood
and below my chest of skin
i romance of her chagrin
in the name of hester prynne
behind my bush of roses
and above my web of thorns
i weave a pair of angel wings
the colour of her horns
now standing ‘fore my mirror
i watch her as she mourns
the death of separation
from the ether she adorns
for in my midnight garden
the dark and day are one
a starcloak and a cyan sky
a devil and a sun
