God is simple. It is men who complicate the nature of enlightenment and make up rules. The path to freedom is right under our noses, in the vessel of our body.
The temple of God is holy and that temple is You.
The presence of God lives and dwells within the cells of your very being. Look at your skin and touch it with reverence, put your hand on your heart in awe of who you really are.
If we are the temple, then why doesn’t it feel this way sometimes? Over two thousand years of Abrahamic religion, we have forgotten how to sweep the temple steps of our body. These religions have mistakenly framed the body as deceptive and evil. So we cast it away and deny it, not realising it is the true temple and path.
Since the onset of Judeo-Christian Monotheism we have been going to exterior temples like the church, mosque and synagogue looking for peace, and all the while the vessel we carry around, the one we deny, is the very temple that can give us everlasting liberation and connection.
The key is your nervous system, which looks exactly like the root system of the tree of life. If this system is dysregulated you will certainly not feel like the vessel of God. Anxiety, numbness, fatigue, overthinking, depression, frustration etc. All of these are states of being emerging from an over-charged Autonomic Nervous System.
To sweep the temple steps is to find a somatic tool that helps you surrender to the body’s intelligence and allow it to release the energetic charge off your nervous system.
If you do this weekly, you will feel lasting experiences of well-being, peace and mental stillness. You will feel more and more like the house of God. We are all the Buddha/Christ but we need to help our nervous system to calm down in order to experience this.
So instead of visiting an external temple, I recommend finding a somatic practice that takes you to the true temple. Your body. The Tree of Life. In its perfect simplicity.
